MISSION & BELIEFS

OUR MISSION:

We are a Spirit-filled church where law enforcement families ENCOUNTER God, EXPERIENCE life-giving relationships, and are EMPOWERED to transform our community through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

OUR BELIEFS:

CHRISTIAN

Cop Church Chattanooga is a determinedly Christian organization. It is built upon the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The doctrines and practices of the ministry are based upon His teachings as found in the Bible.

FOUNDATIONAL

We subscribe to the following five foundational Christian doctrines:

  • The inerrancy and infallibility of the Bible.

  • The virgin birth and complete deity of Christ.

  • The atoning sacrifice of Christ’s death for the sins of the world.

  • The literal resurrection of the body.

  • Christ’s second coming in bodily form to earth.

NON-DENOMINATIONAL

We firmly believe in the benefits of being connected with denominational fellowship. Our context is especially unique, however, and we would rather focus on the non-negotiable essentials of the Christian faith while allowing liberty in the non-essential areas. Those serving on our ministry teams and attending our worship experiences have a variety of backgrounds to include Pentecostal, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, and more.

GOD

We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor. He is the King who is soon to come a second time to reign and rule in the Earth.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit works in the world today to convict of sin, to indwell believers, to provide comfort, to lead us into righteousness as evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit, to give us power to be witnesses of Jesus Christ, and to bestow gifts as mentioned in the Scriptures.

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is completely and equally inspired as the written Word of God. It is the basis for doctrine, correction, and instruction in righteousness.

SALVATION

We believe that every person has sinned and come short of the glory of God. Justification, regeneration, and the new birth are works of grace through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift that cannot be earned, and is only available through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Eternal life is for the righteous, and eternal punishment in Hell is for the wicked.

THE CHURCH

We believe that the Church, according to the metaphors used in the Holy Scriptures, is the Body of Christ made up of all believers everywhere and throughout all time. It is also the Bride of Christ for whom the Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, will return. Further, the Church is the dwelling place of God through the Holy Spirit, and possesses God's authority to communicate truth and salvation to the world. We believe that every individual member of the Body has a calling and unique gift for ministry, and is vital to the healthy functioning of the Church.
